siwaza所属の2名のデザイナーによる作品展を東京・渋谷で開催中。
それぞれが異なるテーマをもとに、10脚の椅子を展示しています。
＜Drape＞
「テキスタイルから形を探る」をテーマに、デザインは生地作りから始まります。
国内のニット工場に協力いただき、既存の枠にとらわれない新たな表現を目指して、
クッション性のある編み地を開発。
その生地を出発点として、模様や質感の特性に従い、フォルムや構造を柔軟に探る
アプローチをとっています。
＜Offset＞
Offsetはズレや隔たりの意味合い。
デザインソフトや建築ソフトでも多く使われる機能(言葉)です。
素材や形、色、制作のプロセスを従来から少しズラすことで、見慣れた椅子に
別の可能性を与えます。
シンプルなフォルムや伝統的な意匠を起点としながら、小さな偏差が生み出す
違和感をまとった椅子を展示します。

CANDLE CHAIR
蝋で全体を覆ったアクリル製の椅子。
型を制作し、その中にアクリルの躯体を仕込んだ上で蝋を流し込むという、一般的なキャンドルと同じようなプロセスで制作。
型を敢えて熱に弱い軟質な素材で制作し、蝋を流し込む過程で歪みが生まれる設計とすることで、予測できないフォルムとテクスチャーを獲得した。
A chair made of acrylic encased entirely in wax.
It was created through a process similar to candle-making: an acrylic structure was placed within a mold, and molten wax was poured in to form the piece.
The mold was deliberately made from a heat-sensitive, flexible material, allowing it to deform during the pouring process.
This intentional distortion generated unpredictable forms and textures, resulting in a unique expression beyond controlled design.
SLIT STOOL
無垢材の本体とMDFの天板を組み合わせたスツール。
MDFの天板に木目状のスリットと質感をレーザー加工で施して仕上げることで、座面にたわみが生じ、クッション性が生まれる。
レーザー加工の新しい可能性を模索したデザイン。
A stool combining a solid wood base with an MDF top.
The MDF seat surface is finished using laser processing to engrave wood-grain-like slits and textures, creating a subtle flex that introduces a soft, cushion-like comfort.
This work explores new possibilities in the expressive and structural use of laser fabrication.
DIAGONAL WINDSOR
イギリスで誕生した伝統的なカントリーチェアであるウィンザーチェアの新しい形を模索した椅子。
ウィンザーチェアは脚・背もたれ(スポーク)・肘掛けなどの部材が、座面に直接差し込まれて構成され、その基本構造は踏襲した上で今までにないアプローチを探った。
一般的には真っ直ぐに左右対称で配置されるスポークを斜めに配置することで、椅子をグラフィカルで現代的な印象に仕上げた。
複数置くことを想定し、空間にリズム感を生むことを狙った。
A chair that reinterprets the traditional Windsor chair, a classic English country design.
While retaining its fundamental structure—where components such as the legs, spindles, and armrests are directly joined into the seat—the piece explores a fresh approach to form and composition.
By positioning the spindles diagonally rather than symmetrically, the chair gains a graphical and contemporary presence.
Designed with the idea of being placed in multiples, it creates a rhythmic visual flow within a space.
BARRIER CHAIR
表面保護をPET材で施した木製椅子。
PETはプラスチックの一種で軽量・高強度・透明度も高いなどの特性を持ち、ペットボトルの原料として使われている。
BARRIER CHAIRは本体を設計した後に、仕立て服のようにPETで保護材を制作。PET表面に折罫を入れることで独特な光の質感が生まれる。ニスや塗装では得られない光沢の仕上がりとなった。

PET, a type of plastic known for its light weight, high strength, and excellent transparency, is commonly used as the raw material for plastic bottles.
In the BARRIER CHAIR, the wooden body is first designed, and then a tailored PET covering is crafted to fit—much like a bespoke garment.
By scoring fold lines into the PET surface, a distinctive play of light emerges, resulting in a glossy finish that cannot be achieved through varnish or paint.
NOM
塗料が意思を持ち、椅子を侵食しているかのようなイメージで仕上げた木製の椅子。
染料インクに模型用の接着剤を混ぜ合わせ、塗料そのものが形を求めるように粘度を調整。
塗料を塗るのではなくひたすらに盛るという、一般的な家具制作には見られないプロセスで制作した。
A wooden chair finished to evoke the image of paint as if it had its own will, slowly corroding the chair.
By mixing model adhesive with dye ink, the viscosity of the paint was adjusted so that it seemed to form shape by itself.
Rather than being applied with a brush, the paint was built up layer by layer — a process rarely seen in conventional furniture making.
